Talking to your GP about Mental Health

A general practitioner can be a wonderful source of support for you or a family member when experiencing a mental illness. Most GPs are accessible in the community, and can be a great start point to obtain information and have an assessment about common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and substance use problems. The GP can also be very helpful during a crisis such as people at risk of suicide, and people experiencing severe mental disorders such as psychosis or bipolar illnesses. In these videos, Dr Grant Blashki talks about the value of a good general practitioner, especially when you or a family member are experiencing some mental health problems.
