Gastroenteritis

Almost every day in general practice, we see patients who are experiencing gastroenteritis which usually involves diarrhoea, vomiting and nausea. In this video Dr Grant Blashki talks about the symptoms of gastroenteritis, its causes and importantly the treatment including maintaining adequate fluids and in avoiding problem of dehydration.

Gastroenteritis (gastro)
Gastroenteritis ('gastro') is a bowel infection which causes diarrhoea (runny, watery poo) and sometimes vomiting. The vomiting may settle quickly, but the diarrhoea can last up to 10 days.
